News of my participation of the incredible Lewes Artwave.
I shall be taking part in Lewes Artwave August 25th to September 8th.
My work will be at Chalk Gallery, North Street ( http://www.chalkgallerylewes.co.uk/ ) and at The Hive 66 High Street (http://www.thehivelewes.co.uk/?p=638 ). I am hoping to be demonstrating my Sussex inspired wood engravings at both venues and I'll update this blog as and when I know when.
I was hoping to be launching a series of Lewes wood engravings at the festival and I had put out several appeals for roof top views. Unfortunately I am currently caught up in several awful family crisis. Time has become a precious commodity- and finding the inspiration to engrave has been in increasingly rare supply. Therefore my Lewes Roofscape project is temporarily shelved. I would like to apologies to all the kind people who allowed me access to their views- I hope in time to re visit this idea, if I do the promise of a thank you print, first of the block to those views chosen will still stand.
I am beginning to work on a new engraving the view of Lewes Castle for the Grange- and hope to have it ready to reveal during Artwave. Whether or not I have the opportunity to finish it remains to be seen! Until then I've just engraved this tiny view of Lewes castle from South Malling measuring roughly 1 1/2" across- to start getting my hand and eye back in after a month or so away from my engraving.
Hope to meet up with you at either venue.
