On Saturday 21st of February as pat of the Society of Wood Engravers 77th Annual Exhibition, I shall be demonstrating wood engraving, from sketch book to printing press.
So if you're interesting in finding out more about the art of wood engraving, pop along to the Bankside Gallery, 48 Hopton Street, London, SE1 9JH on the 21st - you can find details of where you can find the Gallery HERE . The Gallery is open from 11 until 6pm - I would image I'll be there most of that time (may have to pop along to Borough Market for lunch!)
I regularly demonstrate when ever I exhibit - You will be able to see how I develop my ideas in my sketch books and work the sketches toward the preparation of the wood block. I will be working on my current engraving of Chanctonbury Ring at Night and see other blocks that are finished including 'Anne of Cleves House' the print that is featured in the exhibition.
I shall bring my Adana printing press with me, set up with a block so the whole progress from 'sketch to press'. Visitors will be welcome to have a go on the press too - it is always popular with young and old alike!
If you're new to me and my art please feel free to explore my blog - to get a flavour of what I get up to - there's also a featured section on the web site that gives an over view too: HERE
If you're in London and fancy popping along, I'd love to see you!
