Lewes' Artwave 2016 is almost upon us. And this year is already shaping up to be an exciting one!
Firstly, I'm honoured to have an image of one of my wood blocks gracing the front cover of this years brochure. the print from this block ('Spring Flowers') will be available for the first time at this years festival.
And secondly, I am in a new venue. I'm sad to say goodbye to Claire at The Hive, but I'm excited to moving just down the road to No.2 Fisher Street, just around the corner from the visitors centre. I'm joined by two artists; ceramicist Sarah Marx and Lewes Jeweller Pheobe Sherwood, the last time the three of us worked together was when we were part of winning 'Best House' in Brighton's Artist Open Houses in 2014.
A strange coincidence regarding this venue; it was in the past the first shop in the nationwide chain that is Russell & Bromley - before Albion Russell from the business in the mid 1800's he had apprenticed as a wood engraver (more about that story HERE). I will have a small display of his beautiful blocks and prints in the shop.
We have a launch party planned for the Friday 19th 6pm to 9pm - it would be great if you could join us for a glass of wine. We then will open Sat. and Sun. 10am to 5.30pm 20th to the 4th of September (including the Bank Holiday).
Look out for our poster around town.
And a third reason this year is going to be exciting - is my lovely friend Corrina has agreed to host my Sculptures A few photos of some recent sculpture HERE - at her venue 'Artists and an Orchard' (more information HERE) the venue won 'Best Rural Venue' 2015 - so your visit would be well worth the effort! (Please note venue is only open 27th, 28th and 29th of August).
