Busy sorting out the workshop ready for the Open Studio at the end of the month.
Chiddingly's Festival and the Open Studios that have grown from it mark the beggining of my adventure in to the art world- This marks the second full year of offering my engraving to you all. Looking back over hte past 12 months it has been another exciting year- Bonfire building follows hard on the heals of Chiddingly's festival last years Oak Pollard (Last years record of the bonfire build) seems a very long time ago with this years commitment looming ominously! The small exhibition I had at the Towner Gallery during the winter being a particular highlight and a visit to Buckingham Palace (Sketches from a Buckingham Palace Tea Party) for tea with the Queen a wonderful experience.
My print 'Belle Tout from Went Hill' has been selected to be part of the prestigious Society of Wood Engravers 76th Annual exhibition and as I sit here and write this the exhibition has started in Oxford at 'Art Jerico'
I've also started teaching the art of wood engraving with a further two workshops planned to run alongside my Open Studio, more details can be found here - 'An Introduction to wood Engraving' and following on from there will be series of workshops where you can design, engrave and print your own unique Christmas Card- more details- 'Engrave your own Christmas card'
I look forwad to you visiting my workshop- I shall be demonstraing the art of engraving- you're welcome to browse through my sketch books and have a go at printing yourself on my Adana.
One of the most exciting changes you will notice if you've visited before, is I have newneighbours! the incredibly talented photographer Jim Holden has moved next door and is sharing his Studio with the exceptionally lovely and talented Lorna Holdcroft and Jenny Pellet. Next door to him is the Sussex Flower School they'll be hosting amongst others the amazing Lewes based artist Rupert Denyer And if all that isn't enough to persuade you to visit- I have another new neighbour- the queen of beads herself Becca Weddell who will be running regular demonstrations of her glass bead making.
You'll find us all here: Google Map
And we'll be here on the 28th and 29th of September and the 5th and 6th of October between 11am and 5pm. More details about all the other venues at this years CAOS13 There is a wealth of talent waiting to be discovered (and a few pubs too) around the lanes of Chiddingly.
